Brand Ambassador Spotlight | Meet Sheina Fernandes

Happy Thursday CityShape Tribe! 

Today we will be introducing you to our beautiful Brand Ambassador, Sheina Fernandes Guilherme. Author of the blog, Sheina is originally from Brazil and came to the United States to play volleyball in college. She now resides in Kansas City with her husband, is currently getting her MBA, and is the master of the Instagram story. Sheina loves to cook (check out her healthy sweet potato fudge brownies here) loves fitness and wants to inspire others to lead a healthier lifestyle. Read more about her below!

Working in a company or in my own business, where I can influence people to live a healthier life and better life.

Favorite thing about Kansas City?

I love all the local KC things (restaurants, studios, shops) and the KC sports teams.  


Where did you go on your last vacation?

I went back home to Brazil!

What did you do when you woke up this morning? Take me through your morning routine.

Normally, the first thing I do when I wake up is to make my coffee. Then I take my centrum vitamin and if I remember I will drink a tbsp of apple cider vinegar. If I workout in the morning, I will probably just have coffee and banana with some cinnamon as my pre-workout, and then afterwards I will eat my normal breakfast . I love eating breakfast, so I like to enjoy it with a good cup of coffee and NO RUSH! I normally have eggs for my protein, whole wheat toast, english muffin, or oats for my carb, and nut butter or avocado for my fats. Nothing to fancy, but it is always very yummy!  Then I will probably get on my laptop to answer few emails, and I like to make my to-do list for the day. Writing down my to-do list helps me to visualize what I need to get done. Then after that I will go work and keep moving.

In a paragraph explain your fitness and health journey:

In July of 2013 I started an “personal project” to get skinnier for my wedding day that happened on December of 2013. During these 6 months I had to make lots of changes to lose weight, especially with my eating habits. However, after the wedding I realize that besides reaching my goals I also had changed my lifestyle. I became I more active and happier person, and for me it wasn’t more a sacrifice to eat a 70% dark chocolate (today my favorite one is the 85% cocoa), brown rice or to deny french fries.

Because of my new lifestyle, at the end of 2014 I created the “Be Healthy Blog ” where I shared healthy tips, recipes and everything that could motivate people to follow a healthier life. However because of my change to the USA I decided to also change my blog to SHEINAFERNANDES.COM where my main goal is to share a little bit more about my life and OF COURSE share delicious and #fit recipes and tips on how to keep up with a healthy life.


Fun facts about yourself?

I played volleyball since I was 8 years-old; I came to the USA not knowing any english; Im a former D-1 volleyball player. I have the best husband in the world.

Eating all the pizza!
